    My life is a race against time... I try to make smaller projects because of this, (the emphasis is on TRY) but I am this kind of person, I dedicate to my project no matter what, and the project matures alongside me. I remember when I abandoned my first big project... my passion Project. It was one of the most painful decisions of my life, still it was also one of the most important ones... It taught me a lot.

    I have a question I been seeking for awhile I just don't know how to look for the answer, in a lot of animation roughs you can see the animator has left a aspects out, like a arm moving or a head turn, but they draw the rest. is this because they don't need to animate that or they can leave that for the in between animators? Im just looking for clarification.

    If society wasn't the way it is now where money is everything to live a normal frugal life, we would have groups of animators helping each other complete projects without much focus on a salary and funds. People would help for the love of the project. The drive to improve in skill or the passion to be a part of something big. Projects wouldn't take as long to the point where we lose interest in it.

    One of the reallest videos I've seen... I've been trying to go back and finish some short films I've had on the backburner since 2018 and It really feels like I'm conflicted to try and add my current self into a story made by a different me... I think though that that can be the key- to really service the directorial voice of the "you" that initially made or conceived it- We can try and try and try to keep revising it over the years but it will likely never be "perfect" so long as we continue to grow as people, so perhaps better to let those artworks be a snapshot of your soul at that point in life...

    Wow ! This one hits too close to home ! As a 43 yo unemployed (for the past 3 years) animation solo shorts director, Jack of all trades (fairly decent at storyboard, 2D anim, compositing, editing, and well, directing), and I've had 5 TV series projects/concepts that have been marinating at various levels of advancement in my head for the past decade. And it's just so painful to realize that within my lifetime, I will never have neither the time, nor the budget, network, and workforce to materialize them... So even though the creativity and the ideas are all there, motivation is close to zero, and I'm not even bothering trying to write them down, I just let them fester in my mind... And in turns, my mind is getting parasited by this constant "what if I could make them"... It's pretty damn painful... Thanks for putting words on what I've been feeling these past few years.

    • @lunastoir
      @lunastoir 2 дня назад

      Wow, your story really hit something within me and I can feel a wave of sadness because I can relate. I have heartfelt ideas from 10 to 20 years ago, and because I have anxiety and trauma with creating art (prior, I was a prolific artist), I let these ideas just exist in my mind. Lately, I have been working on a new story to depict exactly how I have been feeling (trapped in my past), and I found a bit more motivation there. I also decided this was a gift just for me as the sole audience. So when I am drawing now, yeah, I still get tons of flashes of my trauma surrounding creating art, but because the feeling of my new story is so strong, it almost feels like I can't abandon this one, not anymore. Of course, motivation is still low and progress is super slow... Thanks for sharing your story. I do hope there is one story in your mind that is worthy of your time and energy.

    I understand this to a degree. That's why I haven't jumped into a project that I'm aware can take up a year of my life in a while. I fell into the trap of constant revisions as a result of my ambition. So, I've embarked on several smaller ventures that test my work speed, and gives me more artists to work with since we've established rapport. I too have ideas - I just want to make sure the idea i choose is one I'm less likely to abandon due to unrealistic ambition.

    I think it helps having smaller projects at the beginning. I started drawing at a very young age and I remember how difficult it seemed to fully color a piece or have a background to make it look complete. Now Im starting to animate and I've got all this ideas that I can't get on paper yet, I guess it's better to have 1 minute little projects an then going for more. It's a figth against my own ambition jajajsj.

      If you have no ideas you probably weren’t meant to do this type of thing. Better have someone break it to you now rather than later, I was devastated when I accepted that I had no business in art industries despite dedicating literally half my life to it. I’m not creative and I’ve come to accept it, I don’t do Art anymore unless it has a strict reason My advice for you would be to look for something else as a career and maybe do art just as a personal hobby, don’t make the same mistakes I did

    • @erickr7156
      @erickr7156 4 дня назад

      Perhaps one way to think about it is: you are one animator, but the show Gumball is made up of hundreds of animators and other people (if you watch the credits it will list every single person who has worked on the show, it's a lot of people lol ). This doesn't mean you wont be able to make something cool like Gumball, you absolutely can, it just takes time and practice. Think of it this way: how good were your drawings when you were 5 years old? how good are your drawings now? I would assume your drawings look a lot better now than they did back then. This is because you have drawn a lot more than your younger self has. So if you continue to draw and animate, you will continue to improve. Your drawings will look better, your animation will be smoother, and your ideas will be better. Art is a skill, a skill is like exercising a muscle, the more you exercise the stronger you get, and the more you practice art the better your art skills become. Keep animating and drawing! Draw what makes you happy and whatever feels fun to draw Also! Don't listen to the person who left the other reply (the person named "user-10021") Negativity like that isn't helpful in any way. Just because they did not achieve their artistic dreams doesn't mean you wont. You are both completely different human beings and you have the potential to succeed everywhere they failed. Creativity is a skill the same way art is, there is always a place for artists in the art industry. Who knows, maybe one day you will get to work at Cartoon Network and be a part of the Gumball animation team, anything is possible! If you learn enough you will find many art places you can work at. Of course, if you don't wish to have a job as an artist and prefer only doing art for fun, thats perfectly ok too! It's YOUR choice to decide what you want in life, not anybody else's. Toniko Pantoja's youtube channel is a great place to learn more about art and animating. Marc Brunet's channel also has a lot of really good videos to help improve your art skills. @@erickr7156 shame on you for encouraging something that will only break the kids heart later when she finds out what a job market is You should be realistic instead of feeding into delusions, after all she only has 2 years left before she has to decide for a career

    • @erickr7156
      @erickr7156 4 дня назад

      @@user-10021 There is no time limit for deciding your career, you can choose at almost any time. I've heard of artists getting into the industry later in their life because they started learning how to draw late, many of which already had an exsisting career path they were in for years or decades. Jobs hire based on how much value you can provide. If you cannot provide sufficient value to get hired then you need to work and study to acquire more skills until you are able to provide enough value to get hired. The more skills you have and the better you are at what you do, then more likely you are to be able to land jobs. Obviously there's a lot more nuance to how people get hired, but the bottom line is if you can provide enough value then your chances of getting hired are far greater. I'm not exactly sure where you are getting the "2 years" number, but even 2 years would be a good amount of time to acquire some skills. A lot of certifications, degrees, and licenses for jobs take less than 2 years to complete, an associates degree takes about 2 years, etc. . Even if 2 years is not enough time, one could still maintain a part time job to pay for all necessities and bills while continuing to study and pursue art. I know it's possible with just a part time job because thats exactly what I'm doing myself. All of my bills get paid and I still have enough leftover afterwards, and plenty of time to study art. Maybe 2 years is nowhere near enough to be hireable as an artist in an industry job, but that doesn't mean there aren't opportunities elsewhere. Many artists (including close friends of mine) make money online through commissions, selling products with their artwork on it, selling character designs, through sites like Patreon, some even by working on indie videogames. Admittedly those don't always provide enough income to survive off of, but given enough time and skill the income does begin to increase, there absolutely exsist many people who completely live off of the income they are making from these types of sources. Where there's a will, there's a way. As long as one works hard AND works smart, and never gives up, then they can achieve their dreams.

      @user-10021 There is no time limit for deciding your career, you can choose at almost any time.
